Second Visit with Mixed Feelings
We returned to Club Med Tomamu for our second stay, booking a total of five rooms this time. Our first visit was in 2020, and while we were happy to be back, we did notice the property is beginning to show some slight signs of aging.
One area that disappointed us was the rigidity regarding requests and upgrades. As we were travelling with a disabled family member, we required a connecting room. Unfortunately, we were charged a premium of over ¥90,000 at check-in for this arrangement. The connecting room was essentially the same size as a standard room, simply with an added connecting door — no better view, larger space, or additional amenities — which felt underwhelming given the high surcharge.
The rooms were also quite dimly lit, and we wished there had been more lighting. The hair dryer provided was the weakest we’ve encountered across our recent hotel stays, and we were unable to use our own due to voltage incompatibility. Toiletries were very basic, and there were limited kids’ amenities such as children’s toothbrushes.
Food quality this time felt average compared to our 2020 experience, with some repetition across certain days.
That said, we absolutely love the ski slopes here. They are gentle and much more beginner-friendly compared to Niseko, with more green runs, beautiful views, and good variety. We also hired a private ski instructor, Pat, who was extremely patient and helpful — highly recommended.
A special thank you to Anak from the concierge team, who was incredibly helpful with our check-in and check-out, managing all 26 pieces of luggage mostly on his own. His assistance truly stood out.
Overall, Club Med Tomamu remains a convenient, fuss-free resort with most things provided on-site, especially ideal for beginner skiers. However, we do hope to see improvements in room comfort and flexibility with guest requests in the future.

Good snowboarding experience
Stayed a week in Feb. the snow was perfect. First had a private snowboard class and then was on my own for a couple of times and then had group lesson twice. The Clubmed instructor Rick was patient and taught the Individuals according to their level. Realized it’d be much better to go with an instructor, saving your energy on learning the right skills than on keeping falling down not knowing where went wrong. Recommended Rick.

The magical moments in Tomamu
Our first holiday trip to Club Med Hokkaido Tomamu for skiing. Really enjoyed it with the ski lessons conducted by professional instructor. As a beginner, I’m glad to have Skye who was so patience and motivated teaching us the techniques and having fun at the same time. My group most also preferred her because she is helpful not only to us also will rush to other group who fell down when needed a helping hand. Highly recommended her. Have a chance to learnt from Marti on the third day when Skye is on leave. Marti is very precise and will take the one who is slower to the front and followed her just like having one to one guide from her. So blessed to meet these two instructors and I have learned a lot from them for a beginner to Club 1.
Visited The Nest Bar for two days and meeting Milka who is the bar tender. Got the chance to taste her newly invented cocktail and asked us for feedback. The ingredients are yuzu, sake, lavender, lemon and sparkling water. First tasted the yuzu was overpowered the sake hence informed her might consider to reduce the yuzu with more sake will taste better. She took our feedback seriously and when the second visit we tasted it is perfect! Also received good feedback from the other two tables who tasted it. One guest helped to give name for the cocktail as “Milky Way” how magical. Hope this will soon on the menu.

Great family ski trip! 5yo loved Mini Club. Chris D is a top instructor. Desserts & shows were a highlight!
We had an incredible experience at Club Med Tomamu!
One of the best surprises was the room size—it was way bigger than we expected, and both kids having their own beds was a massive plus for us.
My 5-year-old joined the Mini Club and had an absolute blast. All the instructors were absolutely fantastic. He had an amazing first-time ski experience thanks to the way they taught him through the different grades.
For my 3-year-old, we booked a private lesson since he was too young for Mini Club. He seemed to be doing well, but the lesson ended way earlier than the time we signed up for. I think there’s room for improvement there; I would have liked the instructor to encourage him to do a few more trips down the slope instead of just stopping as soon as he wanted to quit.
On the adult side, my first ski experience was fantastic thanks to Chris D. He was super friendly and made the fundamentals very clear and easy to pick up—highly recommend him for beginners!
My wife also loved the entertainment, the night shows, and the fact that there were desserts available all day! Even though I’m not a huge "foodie," I thought the food was great.
If you have little kids, request a room/building as close to the restaurants and Mini Club as possible! We were far away (Nemuro Building) and ended up walking "miles" back and forth for naps and forgotten items. Being central is a life-saver!
Overall, a wonderful holiday and we’d definitely come back!

Great holidays choice
Ski class is perfect! Chris D is a very good coach and very welcoming. Great views and lots of different food choices. Great shows every night. Can’t believe I am leaving tomorrow. Sure I will come back again and stay longer next time.
