Cherating Beach Malaysia

Great first Club Med experience for our family. Adults and children loved all the activities and animations that the team put up. We tried a number of activities that we would not normally have done flying trapeze, rock climbing, SUP and my son loved pickleball. The lion dance and interactive night was a good introduction to the Malaysian culture. Great variety of food as well. All inclusive package was great , maybe more healthy drinks options can be added for non drinkers.

Special mention to Zak, Luqman, Semmy, Nazmi, Isaac and Nikki at all the various sport activities. So patient, helpful and friendly! The circus team was also amazing - both in terms of their show and in guiding us with the trapeze activity.

Big thanks for Audrey and Angela for looking after our kids. And Zati took care of me very well all three days of my spa sessions. Sheina too. Anish from the security team was very helpful with my questions.

The GOs really give their all and the concept of having your meal with them gave you the chance to learn more about them. It's optional and such a great idea.

Small hiccup at check in when I wasn't told about opening an account for charges so had to walk back and forth to pay for zorbball. Defeats the All inclusive concept when you shouldn't have to bring your purse with you everywhere while at the resort.

The online WhatsApp team also didn't seem to be fully up to date with resort information for pre arrival questions. Best to download the app or to email them directly.

Overall a beautiful and large resort - enough to keep you busy but also relax - you set the pace of your holiday.

My dream is to bring my family here after my visit in the past 35 years. If you're into sports, this is the place for you. May 3rd, 2025 is the day.

Usually, resorts don't greet you on arrival. But Club Med does. They have a few "Gentle Organizers" or GOs standing at the lobby, and they greet you as soon as you arrive. They’ll greet you and get your luggage out for you. They also have drinks and cold towels waiting to help you cool down after a long trip.

I don't remember the GO who checked us in, but he was a very helpful young man who did a good job explaining things and showing us around. He put room key wristbands on us too. I love the way they do their key system. It makes it super easy to remember your room key because you're always wearing it.

The main dining room, Muatiara, is closed after 2 p.m., so we had lunch at Enak Restaurant at 2 p.m. Enak needs some work, though. We don't like congee served cold. Hahaha. I did like the nasi lemak, but the noodle soup isn't very consistent. But the Muatiara Restaurant so far most of the food is delicious and many choices to choose from.
Thank you to all the GOs at Club Med. You're super friendly and helpful, so if you're traveling solo, there's no chance of being lonely! I should thank everyone there, especially GO Awie, who was the most friendly and helpful during our 3-day/2-night stay. We saw him everywhere at all hours.
Be warned: the GOs may even join your table for mealtime! Thank you to GO Ahmed, and the super friendly yoga instructor for sharing their stories with us. Thanks also to the Chinese lady at the souvenir shop.
I am so happy that my husband had a great time at Club Med, especially playing soccer, which he hasn't done in over 20 years. The whole place makes you want to have fun and party with the other guests and GOs. If you aren't good at playing any of the games there, don't worry, the GOs will help you. On the second day, my nearly 60-year-old self-had full fun activities from morning to midnight. The evening performance by the GOs was great too. They were very talented! My apologies for not remembering some GO’s name but I am really would like to say all the GO’s there has did a good job.
While I enjoyed my stay, there was one complaint I did have and it was about the rooms. The rooms were outdated, which is understandable given the age of the property. The room layout and size were only fair, as there were extra beds covered with a cloth in the rooms. There were only my husband and I staying there, so they probably were not needed. The room did have coffee, tea, a kettle, and cups, though. At least it was clean, and we did get upgraded to a connected room for our kids at no extra charge.

Maybe it's because I'm a small person, but the rooms didn't feel too cramped. We even had enough space in the bathroom to where both my husband and I could fit in there at the same time. The bathroom did come with a vanity kit. Bottled drinks were provided, but no glasses, so we ended up drinking right from the water bottles.

The TV malfunctioned, and the A/C had limited control and didn't do a good job of keeping the room cool enough in the hot weather. All in all, even though the rooms were outdated, they were at least clean.

Despite the fact that renovation is becoming a real must, the nature, the people and the vibe made this 7th time at Cherating again a great holiday!
For the first time, we had a club med transfer from KL to Cherating where normally we would take the plane from KLIA to KUA. We stayed the night in KL and next morning were picked up at the hotel by CM.
As Platinum member, before we arrived we were already contacted. Although they could not guarantee our room preference, they did everything possible to accommodate.
Authentic as it is, Cherating is up for renovation. The village has a beautiful Malaysian look, but moving the restaurant to sea side would indeed give guests a beautiful view of the sea and a welcome cool breeze. Hopefully this will happen. Our room was already renovated and we had a nice view of the sea (h-block).
Upon our arrival we could immediately enjoy our holiday. Our room was soon available and Dee Adenan with her team made sure it was perfect in order. Thank you! In the meantime, Young took good care of us, welcoming us back home!
We were happy to meet Sean (restaurant manager) again as we entered the restaurant. Sean and his team always make sure guests are served as best as they can. And our thoughts were met with yet again an excellent experience during our stay: tables were cleaned and available on time making it possible for everyone to sit where they want. Having Chef Rudyanto has brought a positive change to the restaurants: more variety in the main restaurant as well as an improvement in the Rembulan. Lunch and dinner have improved greatly. One of our regrets during our stay: not having had dinner more often in the Rembulan!
During the mornings we enjoyed time in the Zen pool. Very nicely situated on the other beach: quiet and in a beautiful surroundings with equal view. Yes, this too needs some improvement, but it remains a great way to unwind after a hectic period. Especially when Shen is there serving drinks!
On this side of the village (accessible either by walking through the jungle or taking the mini-train), there is also sailing, beach volleyball and rock climbing. Our son (1m97) did the rock climbing which was great fun. Last year there were monkeys at the top looking down on him. This time i guess they were having holiday themselves…
My husband went sailing and with some instructions to first go beyond the sandbanks, it is possible to enjoy a nice stretch of sea to sail across in the hobbycat.
We find that every Club med village comes with a number of advantages: you don’t need to think twice about what to pack; just follow the dress code, there is always a nurse or even doctor on-site on call, and everything converges around the bar (just go there to be entertained). As always, the bar staff are incredible. Shout out to Poppy and Indra together with the rest of the team (Zhi, Rou, Zero, Anth, Abegoss and Shen) know how to run the place. Always with a smile and a quick chat. Seeing Poppy on stage for the department dance was a big eye-opener!! You can swing! And thanks to Indra to connect with our next destination the week after (Bali) and letting them know what we drank so our drinks would be ready the moment we arrived there :-) . Things just couldn’t get better :-). From the bar we were able to watch the shows in the theater and dance the night away to the beats of DJ Oneil! Good to know: during the day at different moments, there is a food cart in the bar where Hardy, Kian, or Seong serve snacks.
During the day but especially in the evenings, it is good to connect with the GO’s. Catching up with Dinesh, Sean and Nita, Young and Dee! But also Mario and Julie. So great to be able to spend time and lunches/dinners together! Deservingly, during our stay, Mario became the new Sports manager. There is a great interaction between all the sports GO’s. Always smiling and enjoying what they do. Their positivity makes our holiday so enjoying. Is there a problem, they solve it. Great mentality!
This all under the leadership of CdV Clayton Da Matta. As mentioned, your positivity radiates through the whole team and this brings the excellent vibe that we always look forward to. That’s why we keep coming back to you and the team (which will be end of January again)!

This resort is fun and lively in the way of all activities and the staffs are very commited to make sure the guests are in good state. It's highly recommended to stay out with the resort.

Thank you to the miniclub team Eva, Rose, Marina, Audrey, Angela, Delian , Kgomotso, FIDA, Miya, Yini, Liz for taking care of my kids. my kids love miniclub so much that they don’t want to leave. Will comeback soon for sure. I will recommend this village to my other family member and friends.
