Our first Club Med holiday – it won’t be the last!

5/55/5 • 3/10/2025

The majority of guests are local and stay for two or three days - we were fortunate enough to be able to spend a leisurely two weeks at Club Med Cherating, and had a great time.

The transfer from Kuantan airport took under an hour on good roads, and on arrival we didn’t have to queue to go through a check-in process as we had provided our details on-line beforehand. We initially thought the wrist bands supplied to enter the room were a bit of a faff, but it proved very useful as you always had the “key” easily accessible without having to search through pockets or bags.

The room itself was spacious, clean and quiet (we were in block D). Fittings were a little old fashioned, but everything including the shower and aircon worked well.

There are different food stations in the main restaurant including Asian, Japanese, Indian and carvery changing daily. Although it’s buffet style, the offerings are varied, plentiful and good quality so there was little need to visit the a la carte restaurant, where the menu was fixed for the duration. Tables were also laid outside a couple of times a week, which made a nice change.

The spa is recommended for massages etc – book ahead if you are interested as it’s popular!

We enjoyed playing Pickleball first thing in the morning most days – there are four courts in good condition, which are blown clear of leaves and twigs each day. Archery was also good fun, with daily time slots available for different age groups.

There are poolside activities including water aerobics, which can be a little noisy, but don’t take place all day so are bearable. Access to the beach is via a little road train (running every 30 mins and taking approx. 5 minutes) or a 10 minute walk. For adults, the Zen Pool area was an oasis of calm by the beach, with comfortable loungers, an infinity pool overlooking the sea and a bar offering simple drinks including beer and alcoholic/ non alcoholic cocktails of the day. Unfortunately, during our stay the Rambulan restaurant by the beach was closed for repairs, so we had to return to the main hotel area if we required lunch.

Hobie Cat sailing was available most days, weather permitting. Most people were taken out for a 15 minute ride, but as I had prior sailing experience I was allowed to take a Cat out on my own, which was great fun. Getting started was sometimes tricky, as the wind was slight inshore and the waves strong, but it was easy to paddle the boat out a little before getting going.

Lastly, I can understand some people’s comments that the resort is looking a little tired, but for us everything worked well and we had a most enjoyable experience. We hear that the resort is due to close for six months in September 2026 for a complete refurbishment – let’s hope it doesn’t lose its charm in the process!

over-the-top meals, endless activities, and a setting that makes you forget what day it is. If you're into group fun, scheduled games, and buffet spreads that never end — this place will keep you busy and well-fed.

That said, the resort is definitely showing its age. Rumor has it a big renovation is coming, and frankly, it's due — the bones are there, but the polish has faded.

As for the all-inclusive experience… it’s just not my thing. Great for families and social travelers, but if you're after quiet luxury or more independence, it might feel a bit much.

Overall? A good time, especially with the right crowd — just know what you're signing up for.

Wonderful Holidays in Club Med Cherating

5/55/5 • 2/10/2025

This was our first time at Club Med. We experienced peace, tranquility, friendliness, and genuine warmth. The staff's warmth and enthusiasm also made us feel bright and energetic.
We enjoyed a full-body massage at the spa with Kila and Shims. For weeks prior, I'd been waking up with painful calf cramps. Today, I'm so grateful to my masseuse, Cik Shima, for her massage to open up the blocked arteries in my calves, and miraculously, I slept through the night. It was incredible.
My husband had a blast rock climbing, kayaking, jet skiing, yoga, meditation, and more. We'll definitely be back if we have the chance.

Zoey stands out as the best host at Club Med Cherating because of the way she blends professionalism with genuine warmth, creating an atmosphere where every guest feels valued and at home. Her energy is infectious—always welcoming guests with a smile and remembering little details that make interactions feel personal and thoughtful. Whether guiding families through daily activities, entertaining children with patience and fun, or ensuring adults are engaged with cultural and leisure programs, Zoey goes above and beyond to make sure everyone’s experience is seamless. Her ability to balance organization with spontaneity ensures that no two days feel the same, and her presence adds a spark of joy to the resort’s already vibrant environment. Guests consistently feel included, entertained, and well cared for, making her a defining highlight of their stay at Club Med Cherating.
