Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

Just had a great nine days at Club Med Miches. A very nice resort with a good vibe to it.

The GO team was especially good. Jonathan (Tennis) in particular was great fun and really looked out for us. Nico, Jorran, Jonah and Kervens (waterfront) were great. Amit, Shirley and Juan (bar) kept our drinks topped up. Marie (spa) was great as were Iara, Lorenzo, Leo, Despina and Soldad.

In terms of need to know. The resort is spread out so there is a bit of walking, but not too much and buggies are available. The beach is lovely (cross shore light breeze, no shore break). The bars are nice and well staffed so we didn’t have to queue. Coco Plum restaurant was good for lunch. The club has good fitness, tennis, yoga and waterfront offerings. Evenings were much livelier than we expected (a good thing imo) but there was still the opportunity for quieter evenings if that is your preference.

The only weak point was the food in the main restaurant. Whilst this was ok we have had better at other resorts. The service in the restaurant lacked a bit too.

This is definitely a resort that we would return to!

The resort offers a wide range of activities and boasts a staff that is generally very friendly and willing to help, maintaining a high level of professionalism. A special mention goes to a waiter named Confesor, who works in the adults-only section of the restaurant. He has an impressive memory for guests’ drink preferences and seating choices, treating everyone like royalty. The entire team in the adults’ section is exceptional, but Confesor truly stands out.

The beach is stunning, though not ideal for swimming due to the presence of rocks and corals that can be hazardous at low tide. The rooms have a noticeable humidity smell, a common issue in many Caribbean destinations, though it seems that with the right engineering, this could potentially be resolved. Additionally, the bathroom exhaust was either not functioning or insufficiently powerful.

One downside is the transfer drivers, who drive at reckless speeds, raising concerns about the potential for an accident in the future.

It's a great resort for people seeking an active lifestyle.
The trapeze and the circus team are an Absolute highlight of the trip.

We had an amazing stay at Miches. The hotel is in a really dreamy, secluded location and it is perfect for a week gateway/

• the watersports team - Yorran from Brazil and Jonah from California - you guys were amazing and made our stay so much fun. Thank you for all your wing foiling tips, walk recommendations and dinner conversations.
• the yoga teacher Uri - your meditation class and sunset yoga class were very special, thank you!
• the tennis team - Jonathan thank you for showing us your perfect serve and all the Wimbledon conversations - hope to see you play there one day and Andrea (although, we know your usual location is club med Columbus Bahamas) thank you for making the tennis lessons so fun and so incredibly useful too.
