Unusual ClubMed experience in the French countryside

5/55/5 • 29/08/2025

This August we spent a week at ClubMed Vittel Ermitage. It’s a small and charming resort, mainly dedicated to golf, set in what seems to have once been a thriving spa town. The resort building is very beautiful.

We are a family of four with two boys (7 and 10). Although this wasn’t our typical choice—since it caters more to golfers and doesn’t offer many children’s activities—we really enjoyed our stay.

The group golf lessons were the highlight. Our kids joined in and loved it. We also did daily walks with our G.O. Benji, who was always smiling and a pleasure to be around. The tennis courts are clay-based and in good condition, but about a 10-minute walk away. They were usually available, though once we couldn’t find a free court.

The pool was a bit disappointing compared to the photos on the ClubMed website. It’s essentially a 12x5m tank, so not suitable for anyone hoping to do daily swims.

One thing to note is that many facilities run on strict opening times, which requires some planning. The gym only opens at 7am (other ClubMed resorts often at 6am), the tennis courts close over lunch, and you need to avoid tournament times. Some of this is due to the small size of the resort, but a little more flexibility would be welcome.

On the positive side, the food and the restaurant service were excellent. There was plenty of choice, and everything was high quality. Big compliments to Head Chef Moussa and Gianfranco, the Restaurant Manager, and their teams.

The G.O. team was fantastic—full of energy and fun. Baptiste stood out with his personality, and together with Benji and others, they made evenings come alive. A surprise highlight for us were the family-friendly casino nights. Our sons joined the games and had an absolute blast—special thanks to Erik, our Blackjack dealer.

The rooms were nice but could use much more storage space.

For guests with electric cars, there are charging spots in the parking lot, but we found the system frustrating. Non-EVs often park in the designated spaces, the charging itself is very slow, and it doesn’t always work properly, so it requires advance planning.

Overall, Vittel Ermitage is a lovely, intimate resort with great food, a fun G.O. team, and a strong golf focus. While it has some limitations compared to larger ClubMed resorts, we had a very enjoyable stay and especially appreciated the golf, walks, and evening activities.

Club Med in Vittel: A Surprising Discovery for an Unforgettable Vacation!

5/55/5 • 3/09/2024

My stay at Vittel l’Ermitage was my first experience at a Club Med, and it was truly incredible! I was very impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the GO team, led by Luca!
The GOs are all very professional, friendly, and perfect hosts. Even though I don’t play golf, I had the opportunity not only to take some beginner lessons but also to engage in other activities and sports that made my days full, enjoyable, and relaxing!
What I really liked about the overall organization of the resort was the fact that you can choose to either relax in contact with nature or get involved in the many activities organized at various times during the day and evening.
I really appreciated the good music that was offered at different times of the day, both by live bands and through playlists. The music was always pleasant, never intrusive, and perfectly matched the overall philosophy of the Resort. The evenings were very enjoyable, with various activities that catered to the different needs and preferences of the guests.
The food was excellent! I particularly appreciated the great variety and quality of desserts offered during the various meals of the day. A special mention goes to the ice cream, which was a must-have at every meal! At breakfast, however, the replenishments were sometimes slow, so I often found myself arriving at times when there wasn’t much choice of food available, as it had not been promptly replaced. I suggest speeding up the replenishment process at breakfast, especially to allow everyone to enjoy the delicious offerings 😉.
The bar staff, the boutique girls, and the receptionists were all kind and friendly… thank you, Virna!
In conclusion, I want to give a special mention to Samantha and Francesco, who, in addition to being excellent professionals and performing their jobs impeccably, also helped me integrate into contexts where my less-than-perfect French would not have allowed me to socialize!
It was a wonderful holiday experience and a pleasant discovery of the Club Med world, which I will definitely choose for my future vacations! I’m committed to improving my French from now until then so I can fully enjoy the social life at the resort!
One last tip for those booking a Club Med vacation for the first time: before you leave, search YouTube for all the Crazy Signs Club Med dance routines so you don’t miss out on these delightful moments of fun and socialization!

Ps: In my opinion, the resort is perfect not only for those who want to completely disconnect from their routine but also for those who wish to do some smart working in a wonderful place! 😉

Tennis & Golf at Club Med Vittel - an excellent stay and nicely renovated property

5/55/5 • 24/08/2024

Overall, a very fun and relaxing stay at Club Med Vittel
Group tennis lessons were fun and the red clay courts were in great condition!
We played a couple of rounds of golf, the first time we walked, be advised it’s a hilly course and walking 18 holes was a bit challenging. The second time we took a buggy.
Excellent service at the resort and lots to do - helpful staff, it’s very clean and the food was amazing!
